"We're coming to get you" - Humberside Police Chief warns criminals after 500 arrests
Chief Constable Paul Anderson says the police are making an effort to crackdown on crime.
Humberside Police Chief Constable Paul Anderson has warned criminals "we're coming to get you" as the force announces 506 arrests as it cracks down on crime in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
Of those 506 arrested, Humberside Police says 168 people have been charged and 137 remanded since the crackdown - named 'Operation Shield' - started in Septemeber.
Paul Anderson said: "We're not simply here to wait and let crime be committed, we're going to target those who cause most harm in our community. If you commit crime in Humberside, we're coming to get you."
The force is now in its second phase of Operation Shield, after targeting organised crime with 55 warrants in its first phase.
Paul Anderson said: "We're not just stopping at the end of phase two either. This will go on for weeks ahead, but then we're going to go back, we'll look at the vacuum we've created in the organised crime world because we're not going to let them get a foothold back into our communities."
The Chief Constable said that in the Bridlington area, entire drug supply networks have been severely affected or removed by Operation Shield.
