UPDATE: Two Men Charged Over Murder Of Mateusz Szleper Released
The 21-year-old was killed in West Parade near Spring Bank in Hull on Sunday.
Two men aged 30 and 38 who were arrested in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Mateusz Szleper in the West Parade area of Hull on Sunday 14 February have now been released from police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Baldwin, the senior investigating officer in the case said:
"Following an extended period of questioning by detectives I can now confirm that the two men arrested have been eliminated from our enquiries.
"The arrests were part of a wider inquiry which has been ongoing since the murder of Mateusz Szleper. The investigation continues to be the focus of Humberside Police's Major Crime Team with support from uniformed colleagues in the community.
"Activity over the past days has included concentrated searches of the area where Mateusz died. We have recovered several items of interest to the investigation and those are now being forensically examined. My team has also been undertaking house to house enquiries and speaking to local businesses along with the community as a whole. Examination of CCTV also features prominently as part of the investigation. We are following up a number of lines of enquiry from information we have obtained and are receiving support from all quarters as we seek to bring to justice the person, or persons responsible for the death of Mateusz.
"Incidents of this nature understandably raise concerns within the community and I would like to reassure local residents and the wider public that a thorough investigation is being carried out. I remain convinced that information is held amongst the community which is vital to our enquiries and I would appeal to anyone who knows anything, no matter how insignifcant they think it might be, to come forward to speak to police.
