Health bosses and charities say there are far too far people across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire who have vital life saving skills.

St John Ambulance in Hull says people need to learn CPR now more than ever to save lives.

It's particularly important with heart attacks being one of the most common causes of sudden death.

We've been speaking to Daryl Perkins who's a first aid nurse at Hull St Johns ambulance.

The first 2 or 3 minutes are absolutely vital

She says: "Look at the figures and the research which shows people who get bystanders CPR within a few minutes of a patient going into cardiac arrest the greater the chance of survival.

"If we're talking about 2 or 3 minutes, getting in with CPR, the chances of having an ambulance in 2 or 3 minutes is small, it's those first 2 or 3 minutes which are absolutely crucial."

Heart attacks can in some cases be prevented by good CPR

"The message from St John's Ambulance service is get out there and learn first aid as you could be the difference between a life lost or a life saved."

"It's a skill that saves lives."

"Heart attacks is one of the most common causes of death and this can be prevented by good CPR."
