Threats To Wyke College Part Of Worldwide Hoax

The school has been closed today following the security threats.

Police say threats to Wyke College in Hull is thought to be one of a number of hoax emails sent to educational facilities worldwide.

The college was forced to close today and students and staff were sent home after a security threat was received.

Officers were called at around 8am after receiving reports that the college had received threats to staff and pupils.

As a precautionary measure the college took the decision to close the site while a full investigation was carried out.

Humberside Police officers were deployed to the location to provide reassurance and complete an investigation.

A Humberside Police spokesperson said:

"Following initial investigations into threats received at Wyke College in Hull today, Humberside Police believe this to be one of a number of hoax emails sent to educational facilities worldwide."

A second college in Hull says it received an email posing a potential security issue.

Unlike Wkye College, Hull College remains open after a full search of the campus.
