Scunthorpe United New Stadium Plan Given Green Light
The new stadium has been given the go ahead by councillors
Scunthorpe United have been handed planning approval to build their proposed new stadium.
The plans have been given the greenlight by councillors subject to Highways and Environment Agency issues over access and flooding being resolved. The decision was made by North Lincolnshire Council's planning committee in the Civic Centre, on Ashby Road, on Wednesday. The club hopes to move into the 12,000-seater stadium, which will be on the Lincolnshire Lakes development, in July 2016. "We will be able to announce details of the contractors who we have got to build the stadium in the middle of May," said chairman Peter Swann. "Now it's all systems go as we embark on an exciting journey for the club."
