Man critically injured in Scunthorpe assault
Police were called to Peveril Avenue at 2.30am on Sunday
A man's fighting for his life in hospital after an assault in the early hours of Sunday (18th April) in Scunthorpe.
Police were called to Peveril Avenue at 2.30am to reports of a man having been attacked with a weapon, though they've not yet revealed what kind of weapon that was.
The victim's being treated in hospital where his condition's described as critical.
Di Tom Kelly from Humberside Police said, "We are carrying out extensive enquiries to establish the circumstances which led to this incident.
"It is being treated extremely seriously and we are working to establish those responsible for causing harm to this man.
"We recognise an incident of this nature will understandably concern the community, so you can expect to see officers from the local policing team in the area to provide reassurance. If you have any concerns, please speak to these officers.
"The assault is an isolated incident, between those known to each other, therefore we don’t believe there to be any wider risk to the public.
"A number of people have already spoken to us to assist with our investigation, however, we would still like to hear from anyone who saw any part of the incident or who has any information that may be helpful."
