On the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, a woman who moved to East Yorkshire from Kyiv last year says she's settled here after making the lfie changing decision to move.

Kateryna Karavatska who lives with a family in Hornsea struggled with the idea of moving away from war from the second time.

Kateryna says she is grateful for the local community's support, she said:

"I didn't expect them to be so helpful and kind. When we came here, people asked about our feelings and wanted to help us. I do appreciate how people treated us.

"The main think i'm enjoying here is having the opportunity to walk on the beach, to go to the seafront and see the beautiful scenery.

It wasn't the first time Kateryna had to move away from home due to war, she said:

"My dad woke me up and said that Putin started the war and the only thought I had was, I dont want to do this again, I dont want to pack my things and go."
