A man has been sentenced to life in prison for stabbing a man outside his home in Hull.

47-year-old Jason Whincup was attacked by 23-year-old Harley Robinson in August last year.

He died two days later.

Last week, a jury found Mr. Robinson unanimously guilty of murder.

The court heard a witness statement from Mr. Whincup's older sister, who described him as a "larger than life character" who would "do anything for anyone".

She said his family's life had been "turned upside down".

The court heard Robinson took photos of himself outside Mr Whincup's house before the attack.

The judge told him he thought "nothing" of the pain he'd caused.

Speaking after sentencing is the Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector, Nicole Elliott, “Harley Robinson is a dangerous individual with a propensity to carry knives.

"He repeatedly attacked Jason Whincup in the most brutal way.

"Jason posed no physical threat to Robinson and there is clear evidence that this attack was pre-planned and targeted.

“Today’s sentencing will provide Jason’s family and friends with a sense of reassurance that justice has now been served, however they will continue to suffer his loss and he will be forever loved and missed by them."

He'll spend at least 27 years behind bars.
