Man arrested as murder investigation launched in Selby

A murder investigation's underway after an incident at a property in Selby.

North Yorkshire Police received a report of an altercation in a flat in Finkle Street at about 8.45am on Tuesday 29 December 2020.

A man had sustained significant and life-threatening injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics, but sadly died.

A woman who was also there had also suffered injury and was taken to hospital for treatment but she's not believed to be in a life-threatening condition.

A man in his 30s has been arrested and remains in custody.

Anyone with information about the incident, who has not already spoken to police, is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 12200246695. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Police say officers and PCSOs from Selby’s Neighbourhood Policing Team will be in the area to provide reassurance to residents.
