The mother of murdered University of Hull student Libby Squire has revealed her daughter's killer has turned down her request for a meeting for a second time.

Pawel Relowicz was sentenced to 27 years in jail for the sexual assault and murder of Libby in 2019.

Lisa Squire has been trying to arrange a meeting with him through restorative justice - but says she's been let down again.

There was no discussion - no nothing. I was told he won't see you

We spoke to her about his decision.

"He said yes at first."

"He said yes because his mum told him he should see me."

"He then said he would see me but didn't want to talk about what happened that night which I agreed to."

"He wanted to know what questions I was going to ask him which I agreed with."

"Two weeks ago my restorative justice case worker contacted him and he said - no I won't see you."

"No discussion - no nothing."

I wanted him to know that I had something he won't get

"I don't want to know what he did to her - I don't need to know what he did."

I do want to know what she was like, was she chatty or sleepy - was she hot or cold- all those different questions."

"It really has knocked me - I'm going to leave it for a while."

Lisa's now backing our Face the Families Campaign - to make sure offenders are forced to appear in court for sentencing.

She told us at least she was able to do that.

"It was really empowering to tell him what I wanted to say."

It was really powerful for me

"I was able to tell him, obviously how much Libby meant to me, the effects on the family and I really wanted to say to him and I did say to him how amazing it is to hear your child say they love you."

"Libby told me that everyday."

"His children will never be able to tell him they love him because they were too young."

"I wanted him to know that I had something he won't get."

"It was really powerful for me."
