Police are searching a body of water in Immingham, after receiving a report a boy had entered the water.

Officers have been at the scene since 6.30am, but say they haven't found anyone matching the description in the local area, or on CCTV.

They've also checked their missing persons database and found nothing of note.

But Humberside Police say they believe the call was made with good intent.

Detective Inspector Tom Kelly said: “We received a call from a member of the public who reported seeing a boy entering a body of water on Mathew Ford Way shortly before 6.30am.

“Using the description provided during this report, officers have scoured the area and local CCTV to check for anyone matching that description, which has proven negative.

“Our specialist underwater search team have also thoroughly searched the body of water and have found no evidence to suggest any disturbance or person having been present in the water.

“Our missing persons database and concern for safety reports were also checked and found no matches for the description provided.

“We believe the call was one of good intent, and would ask that if anyone else witnessed this to get in touch on our 101 line quoting log 61 of today (7 April) and we will look into it.”
