Humberside Police engage with farmers over livestock and machinery theft

Officers at Humberside Police are engaging with farmers across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire – warning them of thieves.

It comes as figures show around 40 million pounds worth of machinery is stolen in the region.

Jenna Jones is from the rural taskforce team, she's warning farmers about Hare courses.

She said: At this time if year for, for seasonality of crime, if we talk about wildlife crime, it's definitely down to hare courses.. So this is the time of year now where harvest is over. There's no crops in the field so the fields are empty and it's a very good breeding time of the year for our brown hair population.

It will land mass brings in Hare courses. if you don't report it. We don't know about it and so if it's a suspicious vehicle, or they see something that they think is suspicious. Then I would advise them to report it to 111. If it's a hare coursing crime in progress, then call 999.
