A Hull travel agent says more people are escaping abroad this winter to avoid huge energy bills.

The PM’s due to announce a substantial package of support to tackle energy costs today after people are struggling.

Josh Cotton is the branch manager at Dawson and Sanderson, he said:

"We've already got a lot of people saying it's going to cost a lot to heat their house and then there's shopping and cost of living in general is going up. So when they've got offers where they're getting breakfast and evening meal included for £27 a day, they're going for it"

New Prime Minister Liz Truss will today (Thursday) set out a plan to save households and businesses from financial ruin as a result of soaring energy bills.

Liz said:

"I will make sure that in our energy plan we will help to support businesses and people with the immediate price crisis, as well as making sure there are long-term supplies available.

"I understand that people across our country are struggling with the cost of living and they are struggling with their energy bills.

"That is why I, as Prime Minister, will take immediate action to help people with the cost of their energy bills and I will be making an announcement to this House on that tomorrow and giving people certainty to make sure that they are able to get through this winter and be able to have the energy supplies and be able to afford it."
