A man's been found guilty of the murder of Jason Whincup who was stabbed in Hull.

He died from his injuries a few days later.

Jason was stabbed in a brutal attack outside his home on Hessle Road in Hull on Wednesday 31 August 2022 and later died of his injuries on Friday 2 September 2022.

After a two week manhunt 23-year-old Harley Robinson from the city was identified from CCTV footage fleeing the scene, and was later arrested and charged with murder.

The trial took place at Hull Crown Court.

Speaking after the trial is the Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector, Nicole Elliott,

“Harley Robinson committed a devastating attack on Jason outside his own home. Leaving Jason with fatal injuries and calmly pedalling away from the scene on his bike.

“I want to thank Jason’s family for their courage, strength and continued support throughout the investigation and trial. Their focus throughout this investigation has been to secure justice for Jason.

“I hope that today’s guilty verdict on Harley Robinson will provide Jason’s family with some sense of comfort and reassurance that justice has now been served.

“This has been a long and complex investigation and hours of CCTV footage were trawled in the initial stages to establish our suspect. Once Robinson was identified as our main suspect, we then had the task of locating him and bringing him in for questioning.

“I am pleased the jury has reached this verdict following the hard work by the investigating officers within our Major Crime Team to build a strong evidential case against Robinson.

“I would like to thank those involved in this investigation for their dedication and for the support of our colleagues across the force and the Crown Prosecution Service.”

Harley Robinson is due to be sentenced on Monday 27 March.
