Hull FC's Danny Houghton crowned Man of Steel

The 28-year-old is the first-ever Hull FC player to win the award.

Hull FC's Danny Houghton's been named rugby league Super League's Man of Steel for 2016.

The hooker was voted by his fellow players as making the biggest impact on the competition this season.

Head coach Lee Radford won the coach of the year award - after leading the side to Challenge Cup success at Wembley and to the play-off semi-finals.

Houghton, who was up against fellow team-mate Gareth Ellis and Castleford Tigers winger Denny Solomona, becomes the first-ever Hull FC player to win the award.

He also retains his Super League Hit Man award, making 1289 tackles in Super League this season. An accolade he’s now won four times.

Hull FC were also named Super League Club of the Year.

The Club of the Year award was presented to the Black and Whites for an improvement in on field performance, financial growth and facilities.

Retiring Kirk Yeaman was awarded an Outstanding Achievement award following 16 years in the top flight for Hull, making 373 appearances and scoring 176 tries.

Scrum-half Marc Sneyd was awarded the Super League Hotshot award as the kicker with the highest percentage, topping the charts with 83%.

In total, the former Salford man booted 110 goals this campaign and played a vital part in FC’s great success this season.

Top try-scorer – Denny Solomona (Castleford Tigers – 40 tries)

Top Gun – Marc Sneyd (Hull FC – 83% conversion rate)

Outstanding Contribution – Gregory Mounis, Iafeta Paleaaesina, Jamie Langley, Kirk Yeaman, Luke Dorn, Luke Robinson, Pat Richards, Paul Jackson, Paul Wood, Richard Mathers, Stuart Littler, Wayne Godwin
