Hull Fair organisers put safety measures in place with testing areas on site

Hull fair boss says they’ve spent a lot of time making hull fair extra COVID safe – which starts on Friday.

It comes as East Riding of Yorkshire health bosses have “confidence” that the extra measures in place would keep visitors safe.

Garry Leach is the chair of the showmen’s guild in Yorkshire. he said:

"We want people to come and feel safe whilst enjoying themselves. There will be test stations on the grounds, our staff will be testing daily. If you're a customer and you feel a bit unsure, take a test before you come, it only takes a couple of minutes,"

In addition, rides will be regularly sanitised; sanitiser stations will be available for the public; all council staff will be encouraged to wear masks; all fair staff will have access to on-site testing and vaccination.

Visitors will be able to collect kits on their way out of the fairground.

Cllr Daren Hale, Leader of Hull City Council, said: “Hull Fair is a Hull institution and I am delighted it returns this year, and we all need to play our part to keep it as safe as possible”.

Julia Weldon, Director of Public Health at Hull City Council, said: “We want people to be able to enjoy the fair. We also want our communities to be safe – particularly those who can’t have the vaccine for health reasons and are vulnerable. We can’t know who is protected and who isn’t, and who could become very poorly if they caught the virus.
