It appears more parents are struggling to afford new school uniforms with one community project in Hull telling us they've seen demand double since last summer.

Re Uniform takes donations of used school clothes and then offers them for free to families struggling to afford them.

To fully kit out a secondary student it can cost up to 4 hundred pounds new.

We spoke to Vikki Williamson from the group.

We've had several people tell us they've had sleepless nights

She told us: " I would be imagine it's very difficult to wonder where you are going to get the money to pay for it all."

"We've had several people tell us they've had sleepless nights and because we've been able to give them and supply a uniform it's taken that pressure off."

"We are very busy - we are looking at over a hundred orders plus a week for school uniforms."

"I think it's the cost of living that's affecting everyone, everything's gone up, there just isn't the surplus of spare cash that people have got anymore."

"Turning to charities like ours can help them with the cost of things."

The majority of the time we can supply them with something

"Luckily we are getting a lot of donations in - people are being very generous donating old school uniform."

"Unfortunately even with the amount we're getting in sometimes we can't fulfil everybody's order."

"We don't get certain blazers for certain schools - even though we get a lot of generous donations we still struggle with some."

"It's unfortunate we have to very occasionally disappoint people - the majority of the time we can supply them with something."

"Even if we can supply them with trousers and shirts - even if we can't give them a blazer - we are helping them towards the cost."
