It's claimed warm spaces across east Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire set up over the winter provided vital help for people struggling to cope with one Hull church saying it provided a lifeline for rough sleepers.

The Jubilee church told us not only did they keep people warm and give shelter but also they were crucial for those with literally nowhere to go.

We couldn't believe it

We spoke to Phil Irvin from the church.

He told us: "One couple, he was in his late 60s and she was in her 70s and they were sleeping in a cemetery in Hull."

"We couldn't believe it - they'd not been picked up or identified by anyone but they'd come into the warm space."

"We were able to fight their corner - they got a place and we got them set up and helped them with provision, all the stuff they needed."

"They were using their life savings to get into a B and B every now and then but when it was milder they were out sleeping in Hedon Road cemetery. "

We would try and offer the same king of thing again

"We started quite small, maybe getting ten people a day."

"Then towards December and Christmas it grew quite a bit and we had larger groups of people and we had people interacting with our Jubilee life college."

"We'd offer the same kind of thing as we had last time."

"It was good to do it and good to be linked into the council and other warm spaces."

"You felt like there were lots of options for people which was good."
