Grimsby MP praises local community for helping Ukrainian refugees
Lia Nici says the situation is touching the hearts of many people locally

Grimsby’s MP is praising the local community for coming together to collect donations for Ukrainian refugees.
According to the UN refugee agency - the majority of people fleeing the country are women, children and the elderly.
MP Lia Nici for Great Grimsby, said:
"I think everyone understands that Ukraine is a sovereign, peaceful country that a dictator like Putin is destroying lives unnecessarily and people really feel that.
More than 1.2 million people have left the country since the fighting began, according to the UN refugee agency.
Lia added:
"We know that if the people have got family members that they are welcome. We've got to also make sure that we are helping those border countries as well to make sure that people have got somewhere to be safe."
