A woman from East Yorkshire has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 9 years for murdering her husband.

54-year-old Teresa Hanson fatally wounded Paul Hanson in the kitchen of their home in West Cowick last December.

During the trial at Hull Crown Court she denied murder claiming she accidentally stabbed her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife during an argument.

Judge John Thackray told Hanson: “Not for one moment did you intend to kill your husband, but you did intend, even though briefly, really serious harm."

The jury deliberated for less than three hours before delivering a guilty verdict last month.

It's was the second time Hanson had gone on trial after a different jury failed to reach a verdict earlier this year.
