East Yorkshire scheme looks to offer more support for mental health issues
More people are accessing NHS services because of their mental health
As NHS services continue to meet the growing demand to see patients for mental health issues, community groups in East Yorkshire are being encouraged to do more.
A new scheme has been set up by the Humber Teaching NHS foundation trust:
They’ve set up a funding programme for organisations to access so they can engage with people more.
Natalie Belt from the trust tells us more:
"It's anything really that will help subsidise some great work that's either already taking place or these groups would like to set up or put in place, that they know their communities and people would really benefit from."
"It's been extremely challenging, we're seeing increasing in patient demand in all services we deliver."
"We're seeing some real significant pressures in the system but it's really important we recognise we want to keep people well for longer within communities."
"Somewhere to go, maybe somebody to talk to, whether it's a workshop around creative arts or whether it's singing."
"All these things impact on how someone feels and their mental health so we're recognising that these groups are absolutely critical to keeping people well in communities.
