East Yorkshire Men Jailed For Firearms Offences In India

Two men from East Yorkshire are among six former UK soldiers who have been jailed for five years for weapons charges in India.
Ray Tindall from Keyingham and Paul Towers from Pocklington were jailed in October 2013 when the anti-pirate vessel they were working on at the time strayed into Indian waters.
Original charges against them were quashed - but a new trial by the Supreme Court was launched last year.
All of the British sailors have now been sentenced to 5 years in prison.
Speaking to Viking FM back in July 2014 about the moment she discovered her son had been detained, Ray Tindall's mum, Carole Edmonson said:
“All sorts was going through my mind, I was really, really upset and it knocked both me and my husband for six.
"I thought well they’re going to realise that it’s just a total farce them being in jail and they’re going to realise that, they were out there doing a job and that’s all they were doing and it’s just gone on and on and on and it’s just been horrendous."
