National figures show numbers getting screened are dropping
There are concerns women across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire are putting themselves at risk because they're missing breast cancer screening appointments.
Nationally the numbers have been dropping.
Now there's a fresh drive in the Humber region for women to get checked out following Sarah Ferguson's recent diagnosis.
We find problems that wouldn't be detected normally for up to two years.
We've been speaking to Karen Hallberg, a superintendent radiographer from the Hull University Teaching Hospital Trust about screening.
She told us: "We find problems that wouldn't be detected normally for up to two years."
"Obviously treatment is less harsh, recovery time is better, prognosis is improved."
