There's finally some good news for East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire's poultry farmers - they're allowed to let their flocks outside for the first time this year, as bird flu restrictions ease.

They've had to kept inside since November across the country, in an effort to stop the virus from spreading.

More research is needed to understand the impact of bird flu on wild birds

However the RSPB in East Yorkshire is worried the lifting will have an impact on their wild sea birds.

We spoke to Dave O' Hara from the Bempton cliffs nature reserve.

"We are really worried this spring on what's going to happen and unfold."

"Thankfully we haven't seen any signs yet this year of bird flu or signs of sick birds or mortality but it is very early in the season."

"More work to research and understand the effect of bird flu on wild birds for their own sake would be really valuable."

Bird flu could be the last straw

"We hope to see that develop this year."

"We did see an impact of bird flu last year at Bempton on gannets and it was in two areas of the colony where the birds were more densely packed and nesting as you'd expect from a virus."

"We know that many chicks died."

"Our wild bird populations are subject to a wide range of threats from climate change through to development pressures, over fishing."

"Bird flu could be the straw that broke the camel's back."
