Boris Johnson's investigating why Hull hasn't received rapid covid tests
Hull MP Diana Johnson raised the issue with him in the Commons
Boris Johnson's claimed the country will "pay for it" in the new year if it "blows it'' over Christmas, as he faced MPs over Covid-19 restrictions.
The Prime Minister sounded the warning after also ruling out imposing restrictions in England by district rather than region or county - something Health Secretary Matt Hancock pledged to consider last week.
MPs also heard that thousands of tests have yet to be delivered to Hull which has the highest Covid-19 infection rate in England.
Labour's Dame Diana Johnson for Hull North said:
"Hull has had the highest Covid infection rate in the United Kingdom and two weeks ago Hull was promised 10,000 lateral flow tests but today they have still not arrived.
"So when governing during a global pandemic, shouldn't the Prime Minister focus on delivering on the ground what has already been announced, rather than grand new promises lifted from the Downing Street PR grid?''
Mr Johnson said he would "take up immediately'' the point raised about Hull and "try to understand why they haven't got the lateral flow tests she rightly wants to see''.
