The East Yorkshire town, known for its picturesque town centre and history is coming alive this weekend with its 10th annual food festival.

Local food and drink producers from around the area are joining together in a celebration of all things local.

The day is filled with events including live cooking demonstrations from local chefs, including James Mackenzie from the Pipe & Glass Inn, South Dalton and Ben Cox from The Star @ Sancton.

Beverley Town Council Clerk, Helen Watson spoke to Viking FM and explained how it’s important to bring local producers together like this to keep the market town feel to Beverley.

Helen also believes that events like this help local traders and the economy as there is an increase in tourism when the festival is on.

She believes it’s a brilliant event for Beverley which she hopes is to continue to grow from strength to strength.

The food festival also works alongside the Beverley Real-Ale Festival, which offers a range of local cider, ale and beer.
