Armed officers were in the Anlaby Road area of Hull last night (22/09/2020) following a call from a member of the public at around 8.50pm, reporting a cracking noise which they believed could be shots fired from a building.

Officers were sent there immediately and enquiries were undertaken at the scene. A police cordon and road closures were in place and people were asked to avoid the area as a safety precaution whilst this took place.

There have been no further reports received and no injuries reported, with no suggestion there is any connection to terrorism or known criminality.

Chief Superintendent Darren Wildbore said:

“Enquiries will continue however there is not believed to be any wider threat or risk to the public at this time. We will always take any report of this nature seriously and respond appropriately, as the safety of the public and ensuring their protection will always be our priority.”

Anyone with information that may assist their enquiries is asked to call 101 quoting log 574 of 22 Sept 2020.
