Albert Avenue Pools in Hull is getting a multi-million pound makeover
New images of the city’s next major leisure refurbishment project have today been revealed by Hull City Council.
Albert Avenue Pools is the next centre in line for a full refurbishment with a £4.6million transformation that will also see the construction of a new outdoor lido to replace the existing one which closed 25 years ago.
The remodel will include the construction of a new large gymnasium and fitness studio, the refurbishment and redecoration of the whole building, the replacement of all the mechanical and electrical systems, along with with new heating, new ventilation systems.
Councillor Daren Hale, Portfolio Holder for economic investment and regeneration said:
“These impressive CGI’s unveil the bold and exciting plans for the Albert Avenue lido. Work will start on site as soon as the Beverley Road Baths refurbishment is completed.
“This demonstrates the council’s commitment to the ongoing programme.”
Councillor Dave Craker, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said:
“Albert Avenue Pools will follow in the footsteps of Ennerdale Leisure Centre, completed early in 2020, and Beverley Road Baths which is currently undergoing a full refurbishment, in providing the best possible facilities for our residents.
“Work has already started to demolish the old mortuary building currently on the site, however the centre will not close to the public until Beverley Road Baths reopens in order to maintain a centre for residents in that area of the city.
“The council is incredibly passionate about investing into our communities and I already know the centre will be really appreciated and loved by its users for years to come.”
Albert Avenue Pools will close to begin the major works when Beverley Road Baths reopens to the public later this year.
