4 Ways In Making The Most Out Of Drinking Your Coffee!

Published 11th Aug 2015

Everyone loves coffee. FACT. Well, most. Whether it's to wake you up or keep you focused whilst being stuck at work for another five hours, sitting down with a nice cuppa helps you get by. However, have you ever wondered how to get the most out of your drink? Well, read on and see how you can get the most out of drinking your coffee and not having to have 50 cups a day.

1) Don't Rush Your Coffee!

The quicker you drink and more coffee you have, the harder you'll crash when it wears off. We've all been there when you feel like you're about to shut down, thinking work has finished when there's actually another hour to go. So, if you drink your coffee slowly, your body will slowly remove the caffiene out of your system, and you won't crash as hard and feel tired later on.

2) Have Some Water Alongside Your Morning Coffee

With having no water during the night, you'll be thirsty for a drink in the morning, right? However, at the same time you'll be wanting a coffee to wake you up. Well, as staying hydrated makes you stay focused, having a glass of water will keep you refreshed while you have that coffee to get you started for the day.

3) Take At Least An Hour Or So Break Between Cups

If you drink a cup and don’t feel anything, many people will immediately drink another in order to get that kick, who doesn’t? Then, after having the second cup, you start to feel it. However, that kick is not due to the second cup. It takes about half an hour for caffeine to work. Therefore, the kick you are feeling is actually the first cup coming into effect. What does this mean? Don't have so many cups of coffee in a row otherwise...well, you know.

4) Timing Is Key!

We feel most alert between 8-9am, due to our cortisol levels, so drinking coffee at this time is pointless, as we feel already alert. A more effective time to have a coffee would be during times when your cotisol levels most likely dip - usually 9:30-11:30am and 1:30-5pm.

So there you have it, 4 tips that should help you make the most out of your coffee!
