25,000 free tickets are being made available for Hull 2017 fireworks display on first night of Made in Hull.
Tickets for the fireworks display are being released in two batches.
The first 15,000 will be released on Wednesday 2nd November at 8am. The second batch will be released on Saturday 5 November at 11am.
The display helps kick off Hull UK City of Culture 2017, which begins with a seven day opening event curated by Sean McAllister.
25,000 free tickets will be available for the fireworks display on the opening day of 'Made in Hull', the major event that launches Hull UK City of Culture 2017, which gets underway on Sunday 1 January.
The display will take place over the Humber at 8:17pm and be accompanied by a specially commissioned soundtrack featuring musicians and bands from Hull's pop history.
Sean McAllister is working with leading lights in lighting, sound and vision and specially commissioned artists to create Made in Hull, which will feature large-scale projections and illumination onto buildings around the city centre and the historic skyline, as well as moving images, evocative soundscapes and live performance.
Martin Green, CEO and Director, Hull 2017, said:
"Made in Hull will be a fascinating journey through more than seven decades of this great city's history. From the Second World War, to the fishing industry, to sport, to some of the characters that are part of Hull lore, it will be magical, thought-provoking, funny and at times emotional. Whilst the fireworks display will sell out quickly, you won't need a ticket for Made in Hull and can just turn up on the seven evenings that it is on. It's the story of Hull and its people and everyone is invited. For Hull residents and anyone with a connection or interest in the city, it's an event that should not be missed."
East Yorkshire Motor Services and Stagecoach have confirmed that they will be running a special bus service on 1 January.
City centre car parks will also be open, although people are being urged to use public transport wherever possible and plan their journeys to and from the event.
