The widow of a terminally ill rugby star has been telling Viking FM how he allowed doctors to use him as a guinea pig for ground-breaking experimental surgery.

Hull FC player Steve Prescott - who had a rare form of abdominal cancer - underwent a 32 hour operation to replace various organs - it was the first time the procedure had ever been tried.

But he died 3 weeks later - aged 39.

Steve's widow Linzi recently met up with Claire Place - whose life was saved by very similar surgery - thanks to lessons learnt from Steve's operation.
