New Hilton Hotel Coming To Hull
It's set to create hundreds of jobs in the city.
Plans for a four-star hotel to be built in Hull city centre have been approved by councillors.
It's thought the new Hilton hotel will be up in time for City of Culture 2017 and is expected to create hundreds of jobs.
It'll be built on the former Lexington Avenue nightclub.
Councillor Martin Mancey, Portfolio Holder for Energy City said:
“A Hilton Hotel will be a valuable asset to the growing band of proposed hotel developments across the city and support the ongoing capital investment programme in the city centre.
“As our city develops and increases its presence both regionally and nationally, visitors to our area need a comfortable place to stay and this investment further demonstrates the confidence major companies are having in Hull.
“Welcoming brands which offer a global reach is a win-win situation for the city’s tourism industry and economy.”
It is hoped that the 167-bedroom hotel featuring a restaurant, gym and conference rooms will create a number of jobs for local people.
Councillor Mancey continued:
“Boosting our local economy is a priority for the council and a Hilton hotel will complement the qualities and character of Hull whilst supporting the city’s multi-million pound investment and regeneration programme.
“The building will create a landmark on Ferensway and revamp the area which has been left unoccupied for a number of years.
“The number of hotel rooms sprouting up around the city is undergoing a major expansion, fuelled by brighter economic prospects and an expected flood of visitors come City of Culture 2017.”
