A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Billy Baker from Grimsby.

The 64-year-old was found dead at a house in Weelsby Street last week.

Stephen Beaumont - who's 40 and of no fixed address - appeared at Grimsby Magistrates Court today and has been remanded in custody to appear at Hull Crown Court tomorrow.

Meanwhile, two women aged 33 and 34 and a 34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder have been released on bail.

Police were called shortly before 1pm on Wednesday, January 6, after Mr Baker was found dead at an address in Weelsby Street.

Detective Chief Inspector Wendy North appealed to anyone with information who has not yet spoken to police to come forward. She said:

“We still need help from the local community. I would urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant they believe it to be, to call 101, quoting log number 215 of January 6 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.”
