Hull's Holy Trinity Church is to become a Minster in 2017.

The announcement was made by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sebtamu, on a visit to the city today (Monday 7 November).

It comes exactly two years to the day since Archbishop Sentamu spoke at the launch of Holy Trinity's £4.5m transformation project.

Dr John Sentamu will return on May 14 next year to make the church Hull Minster.

Dr John Sentamu laid a paving stone in Trinity Square as part of the area's regeneration work.
