Police have released CCTV pictures of two cyclists they want to trace after a pregnant East Yorkshire woman was hit in the eye with what was thought to be a BB gun pellet.

It happened on the busy Lendal Bridge in the middle of York at around 6pm on Saturday May 23 when the 32-year-old woman was with her husband.

North Yorkshire Police said the couple had stopped near Pizza Express and when the woman kissed her husband, she heard someone pass a comment.

She then fell to the ground as a result of being hit in the eye with what police believed to be a pellet.

Two cyclists shown in the footage passed the couple at the same time as the woman fell.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said:

Officers want to speak to them as they could have important information that could help their investigation.

The woman continues to attend hospital for treatment to her eye and it is not yet known if any permanent damage has been caused.

Officers are appealing to anyone who can help identify the cyclists.''
