Van driver admits causing deaths of brother and sister in M4 crash

A van driver has pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of two children and seriously injuring their mother in a crash on the M4.

Martin Newman from Croeserw in the Afan Valley appeared this morning at Cardiff Crown Court.

The collision happened on the westbound carriageway of the motorway near Newport on Saturday February 5th.

The family, from Tredegar, had been returning from a birthday party at around 1.45pm when the car they were travelling in collided with Newman's van.

Three year old Jayden-Lee Lucas and his sister Gracie-Ann Wheaton - who was four - both died following the incident.

The 41 year old will be sentenced on April 8th.
