Two-year-old rushed to hospital with 'potentially life-changing injuries' in Pontllanfraith

A two year old boy has suffered potentially life changing injuries after a crash in Pontllanfraith earlier today.

Police, the ambulance and the air ambulance rushed to the scene after the incident which the force tell us involved a car and two pedestrians.

The road has since reopened - three hours after it was shut at just after 10am this morning.

In a statement sent to us earlier, a spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision in Bryn Road, Pontllanfraith at around 10.10am on Tuesday 9 May.

"Officers attended along with paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Service and the Welsh Air Ambulance.

"The collision involved a car and two pedestrians.

"The pedestrians, a 29-year-old man and a two-year-old boy, were taken to hospital for treatment.

"The 29-year-old man received minor injuries. The two-year-old boy suffered potentially life changing injuries.

"The incident is ongoing.!
