Two men sentenced for car thefts across Gwent

Two men have been put behind bars for a number of theft and driving offences - pleading guilty to seven counts in all.Georgie Norris, 38, from Cardiff, and Andrew Powell, aged 43 from Rhondda Cynon Taff, were sentenced collectively to four and a half years in prison for the offences.
They appeared at Cardiff Crown Court earlier this month after being involved in the theft of multiple cars across Gwent.
Police say they 'welcome' the sentence and hope their sentencing acts as a 'warning' to others.
In court, on May 2nd, Norris plead guilty to four counts of theft and one count of dangerous driving while Powell plead guilty to two counts of theft.
Georgie Norris was sentenced to 38 months in prison and was disqualified from driving for four years and seven months.
Andrew Powell was sentenced to 16 months in prison for his offences.
Detective Constable Chris Fairclough, the officer in the case, said: “Georgie Norris and Andrew Powell were involved in the thefts of multiple cars from across Gwent.
“We welcome the sentence imposed on these men and hopefully this acts as a warning against others who are tempted to engage in such criminality, which has such a negative effect on the local community.
"Thankfully all the cars in this case were recovered and returned to their rightful owners.”
