Tributes paid to 'kind, generous' man following Newport collision
Police continue to investigate fatal crash which claimed the life of an 84 year old pedestrian
Police have named an 84 year old pedestrian who died following a collision in Newport.
The family of Charles Sully, from Newport, have described him as 'kind, generous and special' following the crash on Cardiff Road on Thursday February 08..
A 44-year-old Newport man, arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs and failing to stop after a road accident, has since been released under investigation.
In a tribute released via Gwent Police, Mr Sully's family said: “Charles was the most kind and generous gentleman and a special brother, brother-in-law and uncle to all his family.
“He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
“We would like to thank everyone who helped at the time of the collision and ask for privacy at this difficult time.”
Police say officers received a report of a road traffic collision – at around 4.50pm on Thursday 8 February. The collision involved a silver Hyundai i10 car – and a pedestrian.
They're now asking anyone with CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage, or witnesses who may have seen a silver-coloured Hyundai i10 travelling between Cardiff Road and Gaer Vale in Newport, around the time of the collision, to contact them.
