Thousands of people have been forced out of their homes overnight as Storm Christoph causes widespread flooding.

Residents of Bangor in Dee in North Wales have been evacuated overnight by North Wales Police to safety at a local school.

North Wales Police have declared a major incident at Bangor on Dee and warned people there not to try and get to safety unassisted:

"Emergency services have started to evacuate residents and are currently conducting house to house visits.

"We continue to ask everyone to attend Ysgol Sant Dunawd as soon as possible. Please do not try to leave the area yourself due to the road conditions."

There are five severe flood warnings in place across Wales and England - meaning there's a danger to life.

Emergency services are trying to protect a warehouse in North Wales containing doses of the coronavirus vaccine, because of flooding caused by Storm Christoph.

In Wrexham, an industrial estate where the jab's being stored is at risk of flooding.

Wrexham Council Leader Mark Pritchard said they'd stepped in to help:

"We worked through the night with them we've put resources in there; pumps, gully emptiers, and we worked through and we've been successful."

We caught up with Joolz Stewart, a resident of previously-flooded Canalside in Aberdulais as the river there breached its banks.

"The river has now breached the wall under the underpass and its not far off coming down the street.

"We've got a few Council workers who've turned up to help us with the sandbags but noone from Natural Resouces Wales is to be seen. Its just all the guys here from the street."
