The Prince and Princess of Wales have offered to help replace items stolen from a food bank in South Wales.

St Thomas Church in Swansea had food, drink, and other items stolen in the raid at the weekend.

Vicar Steve Bunting says since then, offers of help have flooded in, including from William and Kate, who visited the church last year.

He said: It was an incredibly warm conversation with the royal household. They obviously knew who we were, what we'd been doing.

"They recounted things about the visit and wanted to know, in detail, what they could do to support us because they wanted us to continue the good work that we're doing here.

"To know that they keep an eye on the projects they visit and take action is amazing. People hear about these things but then to make that phone call, offer that support, I think just speak volumes about who they are."

It's thought the break-in happened last Friday night. The Rev Bunting says it's heartening to see the support that's come from far and wide as well as from local people.

He said: "There is a thousand times more good happening in this story than negative and we just feel grateful to everyone who's reached out and just been encouraging. The volunteers and staff team here have just been blown away by the kindness."

And he added that William and Kate, when they visited the church, made sure to talk to as many people as possible.

"Every person they spoke to felt like the most important person in the room.

"It was real questioning, a real desire to know what are the issues here, what are the issues with the foodbank, what are the issues with the baby charity, what is going on, on the ground in Wales right now," he said.
