Police in Wales have arrested a second teenager in connection with a string of robberies across Cardiff.

The unnamed 18-year-old from Grangetown was arrested on suspicion of involvement with four robberies and theft.

Another man, also aged 18 - from Rumney, was arrested on Tuesday (January 18th) in connection with the offences. The man remains in police custody.

Victims' accounts of the robberies mentioned that they were threatened with knives in order to hand over their electric scooters to the attackers.

Due to the frequency of the crimes across the region, a Section 60 notice was brought in for Cardiff city centre, as well as Roath and Cathays on Monday and Tuesday.

Under a Section 60 notice, police have the right to stop and search anyone in a defined area in order to prevent threatening violence.

The Section 60 notice was brought in on Monday at 4.20 pm in order to catch the culprits, which expired the following day.
