Pedestrian dies in collison in Pengam
One man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving
A man has been arrested following the death of pedestrian in a collision involving a car in Caerphilly county.
Emergency services, including the Welsh Air Ambulance, were called to a road traffic collision on Commercial Street, Pengam, at around 1pm yesterday.
The pedestrian, an 84-year-old woman was taken to hospital where she later died.
Police says her next of kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.
A 54-year-old man from the Caerphilly area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, he has since been released as the investigation continues.
In a statement, Gwent Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we're asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or any motorists travelling on Commercial Street between 12.30pm and 1pm on Thursday 22 February, to contact us."
