15-year-old Amanda Selby died at the Ty Mawr Holiday Park in Towyn, near Abergele, after police were called to reports of "domestic disturbance" on Saturday 31 July.
Matthew, of Ashton-under-Lyne in Greater Manchester, appeared at Mold Crown Court via videolink from HMP Berwyn on Friday.
He told the court his name and entered his plea during a 10-minute hearing, before Judge Rhys Rowlands adjourned the case ahead of a trial on February 28.
North Wales Police read a statement from Amanda's family, which said:
"Amanda was a loving daughter and granddaughter - she was caring, thoughtful, liked to help others and very much loved. She will be very sadly missed."
Amanda's school, Droylsden Academy, also put out a message on its website:
"Our school family is devastated by this awful news. Amanda was a lovely student and she will be sorely missed by students and staff."
