Man seriously hurt in Porthcawl assault
A 33 year old is being treated for head injuries in the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff
A man is in a serious condition in hospital after an assault in Porthcawl in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Police were called to the Eastern Promenade at around 3.20am on Sunday but it's believed the assault - which took place outside The Beachcomber also known as the Cabin Bar - may have taken place earlier.
A 33 year old local man was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff with a head injury.
A 39 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray with South Wales Police saying more arrests are anticipated.
Detective Inspector Jason McGill said: “This is a safe area and such violent behaviour will not be tolerated.
“Officers are continuing with extensive enquiries into the circumstances of the incident and we are appealing for information.
“In particular, we would like to hear from anyone who witnessed a fight between two groups of men on Eastern Promenade between 2am and 3.30am.
“For anyone visiting Porthcawl, who is not familiar with the area, Eastern Promenade is the road by the edge of Coney Beach and the fair."
