Man arrested after 17 year old girl dies in crash in Caerphilly County

A 17 year old girl has died after a crash in Caerphilly county borough.

The teenager from Mountain Ash was a passenger in a car which was involved in a collision at around 5:05 am on Sunday morning on Brook Row, Fochriw.

Gwent Police say a 21-year-old man from Rhymney has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink.

He remains in police custody.

Gwent Police is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, has CCTV or any motorists with dashcam footage in Bargoed, Deri and Fochriw between 4.30am and 5.10pm to contact them.
