Local election polling stations could open in secondary schools and colleges

Leisure centres and supermarkets also being considered to make voting easier in local council elections in Wales

People could soon be able to elect their local councillors as they finish lessons or as part of their weekly shop.

It's part of plans to make voting easier in Wales.

The Welsh Government is in talks with local authorities to see if flexible voting pilots can take place in next year’s local government elections.

Polling stations in secondary schools and colleges are on the list after legislation giving 16 and 17 year olds the vote in Wales.

Consideration is also being given to leisure centres and supermarkets.

More flexible voting could also see polling stations open the day before or the weekend before an election, or across multiple days, so people could vote in advance.
