Couples planning to tie the knot have been left in turmoil following the closure of a popular wedding venue in the Rhondda.

The historic Miskin Manor Hotel in Pontyclun has announced it has called in administrators, citing cashflow pressures.

It is reported that one wedding, due to be held this weekend, was cancelled as late as Thursday evening.

In a statement, the administrators confirmed they were called in by RCA Hotels Limited, trading as Miskin Manor Hotel.

RSM UK restructuring partner and Joint Administrator, Diana Frangou said: "Due to cashflow pressures, the directors took the hard decision to place the company into administration.’

"Regretfully, and since taking on the administration, certain operational difficulties at the hotel have resulted in an unavoidable cancellation of some key events at the venue in the very short term.

"We are extremely sorry for the distress this has caused for all involved.

"We are seeking to resolve this promptly and to start trading again as soon as possible.

"We will be in touch with all customers who have bookings to provide further information.

"The Joint Administrators’ immediate strategy is to stabilise the operating position to enable the hotel to trade."

Other hotels have offered to help step in and help people affected.

In a statement posted to Facebook, the Heritage Park Hotel, in Porth, said: "We are so sorry to hear the news of Miskin Manor going into liquidation, we understand this is a hugely stressful situation for brides and grooms involved but we would like to offer our support and assist with any last minute wedding & event bookings for 2023/24.
