Representatives from voluntary sector organisations and the council are coming together next week to showcase the help available to anyone worried about the pressures they may face over the winter.

A range of council services and organisations will be in Central Hall at the Dolphin Centre next Thursday evening to show what support is on offer to residents as winter approaches, and to hear what the impact the colder weather will have on people’s lives.

The council’s benefits and housing teams will be there as well as civic enforcement officers and representatives from organisations including the 700 Club.

From 6.30-7pm, we want to how winter pressures will affect you and your family and from 7-8.30pm you will be able to speak to services about the help and support available throughout the town.

The event is free and you can drop in anytime between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.

Mike Renton, Darlington Council’s cabinet member for stronger communities, said: “I am grateful that the voluntary sector is joining with us, to show the range of support that is available to people in Darlington as winter approaches.

“We are interested to hear what people think the impacts will be on them as the colder weather comes in, as well as showing where residents can go for advice, information and support.

“We know that there is potential for the next few months to be tough, and that's why we wanted to get people’s views as to the kind of support and help they may need. I hope as many people as possible will pop along and see us.”
