Cleveland Police have confirmed a woman has been arrested in connection with discussions on social media about a driver allegedly following children making their way home from school in Guisborough yesterday.

A number of parents/carers had contacted police late Tuesday (29th March) afternoon, making similar reports about the behaviour of the female driver.

Officers gave initial safeguarding advice while enquiries began, and a woman in her late 60s was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and on suspicion of a public order offence.

She remains in custody being questioned and we would reassure parents and carers that their children and young people should attend school as usual today.

Enquiries are on-going.
